The aim of printing specimen banknotes is to let know the new banknote series to banks and other financial institutions, and through them to the public. Specimen notes also help by their educational role to prevent forgery.
The mutual change of specimens between central banks exists since the 18th century. At the beginning the specimen notes were slightly different to the genuine banknote either in graphics or in colours. From the 20th century the specimen notes are identical with the legal tender notes, only the use of the zero as serial number and/or the printed or perforated word "specimen" makes the difference between the two types.
Specimen notes bear red printed and/or perforated inscription of the word specimen, in Hungarian: "MINTA". We offer specimen notes of both withdrawn and circulating banknotes still on stock. However, each serial number and each types of letters can't be ensured, only the issuing years per denominations.
The photos of the specimen notes are under processing. The actually shown pictures serve only as illustration, they present the pictures of the "normal" circulating notes.
